BACKGROUND
A substantial majority of the top IMAX films are destination locations, like
those continuously running at the Grand Canyon, and Smithsonian Institute. Phoenician Industries has executed a letter of
intent with the Badaling Tourism Authority, on behalf of Peoples Republic of China, to locate an IMAX theater at The Great
Wall of China. Located just outside Beijing, this location is China’s most popular venue for Great Wall tourism, hosting
more than 5 million visitors annually.
The Great Wall is universally acclaimed as the world’s number one cultural monument, and the only thing made by man
visible from space. As an international destination film venue, it is hard to imagine a location even closely comparable to
The Great Wall of China. Not to be outdone by its extraordinary location, the Great Wall film will have extremely wide,
international distribution appeal. The powerful and magnetic draw of the Great Wall and a brilliantly visual film story
will attract theatergoers for the next decade, and beyond.
THE FILM
The Great Wall is imbedded in the very soul of China. The Wall is a story of a people’s preserving spirit, monumental
achievement, struggle, violence and beauty all wrapped in the history of a great civilization. We intend to make an IMAX
film that IS The Great Wall.
The story will be driven by high visual imagery and an original sound track. The musical score would stand on its own in
classical and traditional music themes, and deliver the sublime beauty of The Wall in all its facets (seasons, weather,
sun/moon rises, motion control and time lapse star fields). Full coverage beauty shots with strict attention to methods
(superior aerials, state-of-the-art motion control, time lapse, detailed contingency planning) will deliver diversity of
spectacular images.
